My Mom made the Christmas season so magical for us kids, she loved the holidays. Unfortunately, our parents are no longer with us but, they started so many wonderful family traditions that we still carry on today. All of us go every year and cut down a Christmas tree together. We get up early and have breakfast, and then we “hunt for the perfect Christmas tree” and ending with baking Christmas cookies! Here, is a recipe that we do every year, it comes from my Mom’s Better Homes and Gardens cookbook! They are additive so make a lot!
1 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons water
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups of sifted all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream butter and sugar; add 2 teaspoons water and vanilla; mix well. Blend in flour and nuts; chill 4 hours. Shape in balls or fingers. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes. Remove from pan; cool slightly; roll in confectioner’s sugar. Makes about 3 dozen.
